Our current print offer is made all the more poignant  because there will be no more work coming from Mimmi’s studio now that her Parkinson’s is so far advanced.

Though we are saddened by Mimmi’s current condition, Anderson Fine Art have to admit to being inordinately pleased at having been chosen to offer these rare and hauntingly beautiful drawings for sale.  They are being produced as several distinct collections of hand numbered, limited edition prints, all personally signed by the artist

Remember, Mimmi’s current condition precludes her from ever drawing or painting again . So now is the time to fill your home with some of the most original and sought after drawings currently available in this country.  And do it while they are still affordably priced.wp584247b0.gif

Artist’s Profile

Mimmi Magdalena

An outstanding contemporary artist whose work has rarely been seen outside  the Cornish gallery scene.

An isolation that she preferred, as she

tended to want to keep her ’children

at home in her studio, rather than see them go off with people she didn’t know.

In fact, if you own one of her paintings,

the chances are that it was given to you

as a gift by the artist herself, with the strict proviso that visiting rights are a major part of the deal.

Mimmi Magdalena began her artistic life

as a dancer, being the youngest person ever accepted to train with the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in London.

But an interfering aunt decided that such

an education was not suitable for her niece and young Mimmi was removed from training and sent to a convent school  featuring a repressive regime and abysmal education.  Eventually rescued by her Grandfather she was able to catch up on her education at an ordinary school.

But it was now too late to resume a career in ballet so Mimmi decided to give Art School a try and soon discovered that she had the  beginnings of a rare and unusual talent in this new discipline.

In the years that followed Mimmi’s painting began to develop a unique colour awareness which blended well with

her unusual view of the world.

Her drawings too were developing and becoming more and more detailed and were often in demand for book illustration and record sleeves.

She also began to work with glass paints and produced some truly stunning and original pieces of work ,whose jewel like colours became quite breathtaking in Mimmi’s capable hands.   No other artist working today has been able to capture

the world in such a unique and colourful

way as Mimmi, an artist’s artist.

Her bold yet intricate designs or subtle almost fugitive colour work have entranced many in the art world.

In her later years Mimmi developed Parkinson’s Disease and the various forms of medication she was subjected to have left a trail of innovation and exploration throughout her work.  See her response to being ’shut in’ or having her sense of colour chemically denied to her.  Wonder at the intricacy of her line drawings and the changing nature of her subjects.

Up to now Mimmi’s work has only been available to a privileged few.

Mostly her luckier friends but occasionally collectors and other artists have been fortunate enough to get their hands on the very few that have escaped her studio

over the years.

When it comes to her drawings though;

Mimmi is not quite so protective and,

sadly for us, has given many originals

 away to friends and neighbours.

But since she has been so prolific in this

area of her work there are still many

drawings that can be made available

   as limited edition prints.
